Every vehicle in Canada must have front daytime running lights (DRL), which come on automatically when you’re driving. Transport Canada has mandated that the rear lights need to come on with them, but that won’t take effect until September 2021.

With LEDs, shouldn't be an issue. My old 91 Corolla had rear lights come on all the time and it was crazy how many bulbs I went through. Good thing there were 2 on each side plus the 3rd brake light.

surprised you didn't include Bluetooth. everyone now seems to think it is mandatory. nope. just found on most cars now.

I think I mentioned it somewhere else, but a few weeks back, I had a customer call me asking some questions to relay to their insurance company... one of them was if it has ESC/P... this was on a new 2019 Cherokee. I responded directly to the agent and linked an article showing it as required standard equipment on all new vehicles for the last 6-7 years or so....

amazed at how little people have to know about things directly connected to their jobs (and car salespeople are notoriously bad for it)
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

The Landrover LR3/LR4 has had the auto taillights since 2006 although I think this is more of a small market workaround than safety focus. They also make the headlights (xenons) be on as DRLs which pees me off because those things are not cheap.

In my car I turned on the tails with DRLs by altering 00 to 10  in 2 bits in a 32 bit word with electrical system stuff in it.
