well I just found them all on Autotrader for near $95k - and I would not call them "spartan" in terms of their equiptment, especially in the engine department where they destroy the BMW. Most had next to no kms on them.

G55 was for fun, because it is badass.

face it, this thing would be great in the segment if it was cheaper, sure. But it is knocking on uber SUV territory at $95k and that means it is a bad deal.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Yup, this thing is in no way better than an Acura MDX and should be priced as such. Idiot badge whores need not apply, again, not a Flying Spur, just a run of the mill, 6 cylinder, "oh we have two kids but our lifestyle would work in a minivan" soccer mom assault vehicle.
Lighten up Francis.....

The tester was optioned up quite a bit, that's for sure!! Still a good looking vehicle & I'm sure it would drive great! It's not for me, but to each their own  ;D

No, you bought one that gets better gas mileage, is less expensive and looks better, good choice on the GC  ;D

Here’s a pic of it from our golf weekend at the cottage last year. It’s wearing 315 rear rubber....my 1LE wears 305s!!

What do you guys expect a large luxury SUV that does 0-60 under 5 and handles very well to cost?

Nice :censor: costs money.

That's crazy!! meanwhile my mighty Legacy GT is on 215's  ;D I generally don't notice tires on cars, but whenever a sport package X5 drives by, it's impossible not to notice how crazy-wide those tires are and IMHO it definitely adds to the badass look...that said, I'd rather not know how much a 315-series run-flat costs to replace  :o

X5 definitely long in the tooth, but if the rave reviews of the new X3 m40i are any indication, its big brother's replacement should be mighty impressive.

You can say the same thing about the Pilot and the MDX.

Most of these threads are about price complaints these days.  Everything costs more every year in Canada.  We just hit the highest inflation since 2011 this year.  100k doesn't buy nearly the same as it did 10 years ago.

Dude. I was obviously being sarcastic and self-deprecating with the "mighty". I love my car but it obviously pales in ability and specs to a blown-V8 uber-SUV. Try decaf.

Just like the Q7. And the GLE400 can be priced to $90k and the GLS450 to well over $100k. Those are the X5's main competitors so it's hardly an outlier.

But you do know that you don't have to go crazy with the options on any of these, right?

Half the cost, twice the capability, good choice.

Good to know the sun still rises in the east and people still :censor: about expensive SUVs.

Next, why does a Miata cost $45,000+ if it only has two seats, can only hold a small duffel bag, and has less than 200hp.

Carry on.

That X5 was optioned up (as BMW does with their press cars) with silly things (ceramic buttons and knobs anyone?).  Admittedly, I've been known to be somewhat of a BMW slappie, but it still felt more luxurious in its finishes than, say, an MDX, which I found myself wondering why someone would choose it over any number of the "pedestrian brand" mid-size SUVs in top trim.

Because its a fun, sporty car with a manual transmission with very few competitors....shapeless CUV blobs exist by the truckload!!
