i have been spoiled with uconnect... hell, get in a 2011 journey and it's nicer than some new models out there. it makes me forget how good it has been.

I will say that all the newest stuff in it seems to slow it down a bit... nav, travellink, performance pages, carplay, etc. all seem to take a while to load up and can sometime glitch.
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

Agree on the U connect. We rented a Journey for our trip to the mountains and found the system easy to figure out and very functional. Doubly nice to have redundant hard controls.

Found Mazda's the worst so far, although that Lexus mouse thing is not great either

I like the mouse , much easy than reaching for the screen

I don't care for mouse controllers.

I don't have a touch screen or mouse in my car. The best possible arrangement.

Even with an infotainment system, I'm not compulsively fiddling with things.

I programmed a lot of HMIs over the years. I just don't need to be checking Twatter or FaceTube while driving.

Me either.

I just thought you were against touch screens in general by your comment.

Touch screen in my Lexus works rather well...

I prefer the mouse-controlled systems, particularly BMW's iDrive. Much easier to manipulate instead of staring at poking your fingers.

Then again, I have a car that has nearly everything controlled by the touchscreen incl. climate and I've learned to just deal with it. The system dates to 2013 and the lag-time shows..... :( . *Poke*...........*boop!*

I quite like the VW system. Hard buttons and dials where you need it and the touch screen is pretty easy to use.  Even though it's the MIB I system it's pretty intuitive.

I have found the Idrive in my in-laws to be more of a pain.  But that's a function of there being so many damned sub menus.

Agreed. It's disappointing that Audi is moving away from the mouse-controlled systems. And yes, iDrive is awesome.

With a touch screen it's look and touch. If it takes more than a couple of pokes, it's likely something you shouldn't be doing in traffic, but that's the same with any of the screen bases systems.

With a controller it's look, grab the puck, look where the cursor or hotpoint is, twiddle with the puck as it bounces around the screen and then click.

I've not found that to be the case for me with mouse's I've used. Once you know the menu, I just feel for the haptic feedback and count the spaces. Eyes not even on the screen. Like if the icon defaults to the top left corner, you just feel the bumps to the icon you want. And these weren't even my cars, so I'm guessing I'd be even better if that were the case.

YMMV.

^ Which nobody does in practice. People look for the cursor, then twiddle until it's over the icon they want. It's more distracting, and why these systems are on the way out.

I've got the U-connect system in my JGC and have found it easy to use & it functions well also... only crappy part is that I can't update it to have Android Auto... that's the one feature I wish it had. Although there is a software update for it, so I'll have to do that  ;D

U-Connect is very well done. Easily one of the best interfaces.
