I'm still trying to figure out why this is even considered news.

The ‘gust of wind’ comment came fom the driver who caused the accident.  Either she made it up as an excuse to hide that she was most-likely texting, or she reacted incompetently to the ‘gust of wind.’

My thoughts exactly.

What a load of crap.

"The driver and her dog were not injured."

Nuff said right there...Poofy was probably on her lap - distracted driving.  Cousin got a $600 fine for having his wiener wee little dog on his lap.

My wiener is always in my lap.

The ‘gust of wind’ comment came fom the driver who caused the accident.  Either she made it up as an excuse to hide that she was most-likely texting, or she reacted incompetently to the ‘gust of wind.’  Also, we have no idea about the state of the tires, suspension, steering, etc.  If these GM-Daewoo things were inherently dangerous in cross winds, we would have had more stories like this.

Stop being rational - embrace the hysteria!  :rofl2:

driving my jeep across the skyway is always exciting...

two employees had to switch out of their demos because they were scared on that part of the drive... my lord... I've never understood that... "I'm a mediocre driver at best, so i'll just find another way to make me comfortable on the road even though I'm unqualified and unprepared for actual driving"

Blame our lackluster licencing system for so many pathetic, unskilled and untalented drivers clogging up our roads.
Lighten up Francis.....

Riding my old 307 lb CBR 125R across the Port Mann Bridge in crosswind gusts up to 70 km/h, now that was fun.

The last time crosswinds were an issue for me, I was 16.

Agreed, my wife (GF at the time) and I took a few road trips in her Pontiac Wave and had no issue with crosswinds. Its also pretty windy in the prairies...

I find small cars actually pretty good on windy days.  It's things with large, flat sides that suffer.  On highway 22 south of Calgary, you will find semis on their sides from wind, holy hell can you get bad winds on that road.

The Miata gets blown around a little because it's barely 1000kg, but I've never felt in danger because of it.
