My New Ride - 2018 F150 5L Supecab
« on: June 23, 2018, 01:50:45 pm »
After more then a year of pondering I’ve sold the Tucson for a 2018 Ford F150 Super-cab 5L V8 in Ruby Red.  I opted for the external appearance package, running boards and exhaust tip over the one without those but a larger screen inside with Sync3. I'm a Ford guy so it's my dream truck and my dream engine.

What else did I consider?  RAV4 Hybrid  —> Toyota Tacoma —> Wrangler JL —> F150.  I spent more then a year deciding on this purchase and crossed shopped many dealers as far away as 400 KM.

I made  google album with a couple photos, haven't figured out how to post photos here since Photo-bucket removed free third part hosting.

Has anyone ever done the pre-paid maintenance packages? I won't go into all the details but they make it look there is potential to save $2,995,66 over 7 years.  Looks like the upfront cost is $3103 though.

I never had to change shocks on my trucks
$40 for air filter  :o

My truck at 7 years 145,000 and probably only spend about $2,000 not including tires cost

That's a proper work truck. You are in landscaping, right? In any case, congrats on the new purchase!

It's not often anyone but me is in my vehicle.  I won't be having any kids, getting a little old for that.

This was strictly a want purchase, I really don't "need" a truck or a V8. However I wanted something that I could put anything i if I needed to and had more mods available for it then a Hyundai Tucson would and was 4x4. For a long time I was flipping between the Wrangler, Tacoma, and F150

Out of curiosity, did you consider a new Honda Ridgeline?

I did go to the dealership a couple times when they were closed to look at them. I do like the Ridgeline but they seemed a little small for my liking. Never test drove one or talk to sales though.

Has anyone ever done the pre-paid maintenance packages? I won't go into all the details but they make it look there is potential to save $2,995,66 over 7 years.  Looks like the upfront cost is $3103 though.

I've done the math on this and did end up buying a 5-year prepaid maintenance for my Mustang GT.  My cost was $1,520 though the initial package price that the finance guy quoted me was $2,500.

The way I look at it is the plan pays itself off with just oil changes.  I won't be putting many kms over the next 5 years so the other stuff won't be necessary/required for me.

Best part: you're locking in the rate and you know exactly what you're going to be paying over the next 7 years.  Who knows how expensive regular maintenance will be.

Seems like yours is a good value.
