Nice, but I paid a lot less for mine with much lower mileage.  Still, nice car for someone.  Anyone want me to check it out for them?  ;D

If I was ready to buy now....

The guy I bought from said he had a couple of remote buyers that were driving him nuts about his car before I bought it, so maybe they'll work on this one now.  Car guys are fakin crazy!

Fack, I should be all over that.  Looks like it is very well cared for.  Too bad I spent just a bunch of cash on house upgrades,  I clearly need to get my priorities straight....

The mods on that Z3 are very nicely done and in moderation so that it looks great and is still as reliable as ever.  These cars still have FGC characteristics, so they're not completely trouble free, but as far as German cars go, they're on the durable end of the spectrum.  The simplicity really helps.

The M-model prices aren't much higher than other Z3s, they look better and have better performance - so it seems to me that looking for one over other Z3 models is a no brainer.  Takes patience, is all.

I'd love to back-to-back one with an S2000 - I understand that despite a lot of similarity on the spec sheets, they're VERY different cars in terms of character.

The only issue I've found with them is the cracked welds on the rear subframe

The Z3’s differential mount and rear trunk floor welds are prone to tearing. To inspect, remove the carpet in the trunk and look for spot welds along the back floor. These spot welds should be little flat circles. If they are sunk, or cracked, there will soon be a problem. Under the car, look at the C shaped mount to which the differential is bolted. Inspect for tears in the corners of C. Also look at the bottom of the trunk floor for signs of tearing or separation.

That car looks great. Considering I sold my Volvo 1800E for just a little less and this is 10x the car...I would be all over that.

I'd love to back-to-back one with an S2000 - I understand that despite a lot of similarity on the spec sheets, they're VERY different cars in terms of character.

Very interesting comparison for sure.  They are very similar in many ways, but also very different in many others.  The S2000 is probably a little sharper in handling and reflexes, but it's close.  The steering is slightly better in the S2000.  The Z3 is slightly smaller but just as comfortable because of the power heated seats, so there a better range of movement.  The thing that surprised me the most was how well the transmission, clutch and shift feel in the Z3 compared with the S2K.  It's darn near just as good in the Z3, if one less cog.  The ratios are different, of course, but both a well suited to thier engines.  The Z3M runs around 3500 RPM at 120km/h compared with the Honda's 4000RPM.

The biggest differences is the way you sit inside each, and the power bands.  In the Honda you sit lower and in a more inclined position, whereas in the Z3 you are more upright.  Both engines pull hard and sound fantastic but the Z3M pulls dead even throughout the power band, where the Honda pulls less well off the line, but then just explodes at ~6000RPM.  To be fair though the Z3M is probably putting out about 30HP and 50 toques more than the S2K because its chipped.  It's also a little more squirrley in the rear end as well and very easy to induce oversteer.  The Z3M is the sonic champ though.  It just sounds so good all the time.  The S2K sounds ferrocious after the VTEC kicks in but before 4k is just sounds like a regular Honda.

Both are entertaining though, and both look fantastic.  Honestly, if I had both in my stable I'd have a hard time deciding which one to take out each time. The most important thing is that they are both playful even with the tc turned on, and both allow you to defeat the tc altogether.

Nope.  Top is like new.  I washed it this morning and was nice and dry inside after.  The canvas is holding water though, so it needs a good spray to bead the water off and for uv protection.  The rear window is creased and worn out but it doesn't leak, and a brand new window came with the car.  Also came with a custom cover.

^ lol

Well, it's a done deal now.  Took it out for a good run after i picked it up and it really does make some sweet sounds.  Lovely little car!!  The rear quarter on this is a thing of beauty and pure automotive sex imo.  Can't stop looking at it.

You don't own an "M" until you post the gratuitous M badge pic!!   ;D

You getting an exhaust for it for more glorious sound?

I counted last night and there are only 8 including the ones on the sill plates, unless i missed some.   :D

Was planning on doing a good detail inside and out, but it's already been done.  I applied some leather conditioner on the seats and the engine bay last night, but all the rubber and plastics have been done already this season, and the paint was waxed less than a month ago.  I'll just give it a good wash and should be good until mid-summer.

So, i did miss a few more.  Noticed today that not only does each wheel have an M logo, but even the valve stem covers have one for another eight.  So sixteen in total so far.  This is turning into the automotive equivalent of Where's Waldo.  ;D

No way.

Last I saw the Dinan chip was only good for 10hp or so.

That highly modded Z3M I posted put down 236hp to the wheels..or about 275 at the crank.

Yeah, you’re probably right.  It just feels a lot stronger.  Pulls a lot harder than the S2K up to about 6K, but from there they are a lot closer in feel.

You're feeling the awesome torque spread of the I6. They feel stop grunty.

One of the reasons people love these engines.

There's a red M-Roadster around here that I saw for the first time last week.  Strangely, the one rrocket posted is not far from me but have never seen that one around and he's owned it for quite a while now.  Lots of regular Z3s around though.

So I've put a little over 2500 miles on this thing since buying it just over a month ago and what a great little car to drive.  Took it down the Fundy Coast for the third time on Friday, then up the Acadian Coast yesterday for an overnight stay at a friend's beach side cottage in Pointe Sapin, NB.  Love the looks of this thing as well.   Such an interesting and curvaceous figure.  Really glad i picked up that back wind screen deflector though.  That makes any drive over 80km/h much more enjoyable and very comfortable cruising ~130KM/h.  8)
