My first FGC
« on: June 19, 2018, 11:23:21 am »
Lets hope the F in this case stands for First.  ;D

It's a 2000 BMW Z3M Roadster.  It's got 46k miles (US car), the current owner has owned it since 2005, and only the second owner.  He bought it from a BMW dealer in Georgia.  It's in very good condition and has been very well maintained.  The owner is a dentist and has done a really good job maintaining it, and the only mod is a tuner chip for a little more grunt than stock.

Funnily, the Z3 was not even on my radar when i first started looking.  I was all over the map initially, with the only criteria being that the top had to come down.  Lots of flip flopping around mostly because my wife wanted an auto and that narrowed down the choices down considerably for something interesting. I pretty well had my choice narrowed down to an SLK55 AMG and was almost pulled the trigger on a few over the last couple of weeks.  I was just about to make a firm offer on an SLK55 in Ontario when a buddy of mine called to tell me about the M Roadster and insisted i look at it first.  Glad I did!  Best of all it was well below budget, and a bit of a bargain imo.

Anyways, here's a teaser photo and i will post up more after i actually pick the car up later today.  At least i hope to pick it up today.  The owner is a busy dentist and just built a new home so he has been really hard to get a hold of for just about everything, even to give him my money.  :P

I poked quite a few people in the forum to ask advice and even had Gurgie and Blur911 look at a couple of cars for me during my search, so thanks to all who helped me with that.  Really leveraged the power of the forum this time around.  Ironically, this car was located only a few Kms from my house, so that was another bonus.  It's really hard to shop for something special when your doing it remotely, so a second set of eyes really helps with that!  Also, all the other cars i was considering were well above my initial budget of $25k, so nice to get something this nice for a really decent price!  8)  Strangely enough it was my wife that was willing to go way over.... ???.

I much prefer the look of the Z3 to the Z4. The M version even more so. Congratulations KD!

The Z3 M is one of my favourite BMWs, period.  The 507-homage looks really do it for me, and the extra aggressive body work of the M version is just perfect.

Nice find!!

Boss!
Nice one Tom.
Funny, you purchasing one reminded me that a chap just down a few houses from me has a Z3 M...er...maybe still has - I have not seen it around or his daily driver BMW 550...or him lately...Hmmm... :-X

Props on your wife wanting to go over the budget after she backed you into the "auto only" corner. Looks good.

Yeah! It is now officially official.  Congrats on such a cool and fun car. Now hoping for some proper summer weather to enjoy it.

I was just about to make a firm offer on an SLK55 in Ontario

Good thing I was on vacation and you didn't get to find out what condition it was in.  ;D

dang.   Z3s do indeed look amazing, and you will "probably" like the engine a lot.  it being a convertible wouldn't hurt either.

nice one!
