Definitely more interesting than the previous version. Finally the God awful infotainment is replaced. My MDX Nav doesn't even work (half the time it tells you you're in a lake, and that's after it takes a minute to boot up).

The styling is a bit too much for my taste though. I guess they're targeting a different psychographic profile.
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

Present: 15.5 V60 T6 + Polestar, 17 MDX

I'm really liking this and if I was shopping right now, this would make it near the top of my list.

And look, real exhaust pipes, take that Audi.

I wonder if this is more Lexus NX size than RX size.  It sounds like a very good offering indeed and might be the best of the bunch currently on offer.  I don't mind the exterior styling and the interior is very nice indeed.  The death of the naturally aspirated V6 continues but at least they paired this 2.0T with the newer 10 speed transmission than that crappy 9 speed they have/had in the TLX.  I wonder what it is rated to tow?

I like the looks, but I’m still in the camp preferring a V6.  Ah well.

The cargo capacity numbers as listed need to be checked. They’re much too high.

Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

I thought it is MDX vs RX , RDX vs NX

In pricing yes, but the MDX is a 3rd row seating CUV and the RX has only recently released a stretched version to compete with it.  The NX is a bit small, so I was hoping this new RDX is more in line with the 2 row RX as opposed to the current NX.

According to Alex on Autos it is almost the same size as the F-Pace and GLC.

The new RDX should be among the roomiest in its category having just been refreshed. It's longer than the GLC, F-Pace. Not sure about interior room vs the F-Pace. NX is the smallest in the category, and some publications have it competing vs the Q3, X1s.

Overall Length:
2018 NX: 182.3 in.
2019 RDX: 186.9
2018 RX (2-row): 192.5

We're looking for something with a deeper cargo area (with seats folded up) vs the current crop of compact SUVs, but not as lengthy as the optional 3-row stuff. Something like the Santa Fe Sport. Not a fan of the new RDX's looks, but otherwise, this seems really promising.

Not as solid as the Germans according to Car & Driver.  Also missing premium feature like tri-zone climate control and nice touches like reclining rear seat along with sliding bottom and color heads up display.

No way. The MDX is my wife's car and she made a big deal about wanting to be free to choose etc without restrictions (outside of reasonable ones on cost & fit for purpose etc.). So I let her choose and I'm not interfering here. Just tossing comments from the peanut gallery :)

Not even the GLC offers reclining or sloding.rear seat like Buick Envision.does. No tri-zone climate control like Buick either.

Or a CR-V thay the 2019 RDX is based on?

The Envision 2.0T  offers reclining rear seat that can be set straight up for when the dogs are there and the seat bottom slides forward to keep them out of rear foot area.  The flexibility creates about 9" of additional cargo plus slightly more with seat back straight up making a very versatile cargo area.

...I like the evolution in the styling, the interior appears to me of a much better quality with more options, they've fixed the awful infotainment and yes they brought the SH-AWD to the RDX...

But SH-AWD still only send 70% fore or aft, where the Active Twin Clutch AWD with torque vectoring  can send 100% to a single wheel while the others slip.

NormT, why are you not banned yet?

This is not a discussion about the Envision. Never was.

I have had enough. Blocked.

The CRV has the worst AWD system in the segment; SH-AWD on the other hand is reputed to be one of the best. I have a long highway commute and my wife's profession doesn't allow for snow days, so a good (preferably) full-time system is what we want.

The new RDX is not based on the CRV.

EDIT: Didn't read properly.
On the Envision, what's the minimum cargo floor depth (seats slid all the way back)? Also do seats slide separately or the entire bench has to move in unison?

Yes, the RDX shares with other Honda's but is modified feom the CR-V.

"Acura is calling it an all-new, exclusive platform—but the RDX started with the Honda CR-V architecture and modified the chassis and upgraded the powertrain. Obviously, the sheetmetal is much different, too."  Motor Trend

SH-AWD on a three-wheeled roller test.

"Here, the Buick and Acura were placed on rollers under each wheel except the left front, so three wheels had zero traction and the one traction surface was under the front not rear wheel. In this case, the Envision could deliver torque to the left front wheel and drive off. The Acura could not and had to be pushed off; it could get going if the wheel still on the ground was a rear wheel. What does this prove? In the occasional circumstance where you’re stopped and both rear wheels and one front wheel are on, say, glare ice, only one car, Buick, will be able to start up without a push."

https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/244191-buick-joins-torque-vectoring-goes-snow-wheel-drive-show

The Active Twin Clutch AWD witb torque vectoring is offered on LaCrosse,  Regal, Enclave, and Envision.

I can measure fron hatch to seat back on floor or top of the seat back as if you were carrying a box in our Envision.
