Let us not forget that this man stretched a 2003 Kia out to 15 years.
Can we get a retrospective on that? :)

Congratulations on the new ride.

Thanks all.  :)

The Sorento is still running and will be traded in as a fully functional car, with only a bit of TLC needed on bits here and there:
-  First day with the car was August 15, 2003.
-  ABS light is on.  The ABS sensor is either gone or more likely a loose connection under or near the driver's seat based on observation.
-  The sun roof needs some work but it functions.
-  Rust around the rear wheel wells, on the hatch and on the body near the driver's door.  Blame that last one on winter run-off from my boots that I couldn't remove before entering.
-  Fuel efficiency has gone down but some of that can be blamed on my tire choice.  Went from a Michelin H rated tire to a Yokohama S rated set for all seasons.
-  Some centre console lights are out.  Will need a new board as they are LED based or so it seems.
-  Rear window struts (yes, it can open independently of the rear hatch) are shot.
-  One fender bender when an oncoming driver decided to beat the yellow light and turn into me (she was turning left - I was going straight).  $1800 and all covered.

Trips:
-  A few to PEI
-  One to Maine
-  Several around Quebec and Ontario
-  Several to Vermont, New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts.

And that's about it.
How many Kms on it ?

Not much:  about 95,000.

I never needed it to commute to work and my driving had dropped off over the years.  I went from about 8,000 to 10,000 per year down to less than 6,000.  A big part of that is the fact that both of us have cars, so blending households also meant fewer kms on each car.

Going forward, I hope to spend more time driving on our vacations, more cycling and skiing trips and so on.  Retirement beckons in a few years and I can see myself going on many more jaunts as a result.
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...and I'm all out of bubblegum.    -    John Nada (played by Roddy Piper) in "They Live"

On a much happier note than my post in the Off topic area, my new beastie is at the dealership!  If all goes well, I pick it up on Thursday.

Does the new one have a bit more ground clearance than the previous version?  I've seen them on the road and it looks like there's more air under them.

Subaru in blue?  Always a winning combo.
