Same, thanks guys for making me aware of this deal. Got me a set of Blizzaks for our Santa Fe, installed for $825 with a $70 Costco Card coming in the mail. The guy at Costco said this was the best deal he's seen for the Bridgestone tires so far.

Hmm... $215/tire for 225/45R17 WS80s for the GTI. So, total after the rebate card would be $790 + GST. Not a bad deal, but not overly awesome.

Think I’ll hold off. The Yukon will be getting new Hakkas in the fall, so think I’ll eke another winter out of the GTI’s current WS80s. They’re around 6-7/32” IIRC.

Also I’m kind of tempted to try out the Continental Winter SIs instead next time. And maybe there’ll be something even better when fall 2019 comes around. Seems like all the current winter tires have been on the market for a few years already.

I hear you but did your number include the $.01 per tire for installation? That is what pushed me over the top.

Essentially Costco usually charges $20/tire (or is it $15). Anyhow it is $70 card + $80 (install fee waiver) = $150 off a price that most shops can't touch. Done and done.

It's $15 a tire, $20 if you count the tire levy that's not discounted. So with this promotion, you pay $5.01 a tire.

I decided not to go ahead with this, my Mazda's tires are good and have decent tread left.

My 8 year old Toyos G0-02 Open Country Observes had 8/32 tread left but were micro cracking and starting to chunk. The rubber was old.

My all season set was manufactured in 0216 installed spring 2017 and winter set in 0817 installed last autumn so they're still good! I'd say one or two seasons left each, my all seasons get switched when they hydroplane at the sight of water and winters get switched when they get below 5mm remaining.

I drove on 9 year old tires for a bit, pretty sketchy.

Both sets of my current winters were manufactured in 2010. I am getting old! The DMV1s will limp through another winter before being retired.

Oh, does that $215/tire already include the installation fee which will be refunded? I was thinking it was $215 + $0.01, not $215 - $14.99.

Oh well, guess it’s too late now anyway.

I’ll have to go look at my receipt for the WS80s I bought there 3-4 years ago. Pretty sure I paid around $180/tire plus $15/tire installation, so right around $800 total. I guess there’s 4 years worth of inflation now, but the current sale didn’t seem like such a screaming deal to me.

No the price advertised doesn't include install. They charge $15/tire after that. For the Land Rover it was $150-$250 cheaper than anything/anywhere else all in.

I just did an online comparison between:
- Costco
- 1010Tires
- Tire Rack

I searched for winter tires for my new Crosstrek.

The only tire that was in all three searches was the Bridgestone WS80. The prices were:

Costco

1010 Tires

Tire Rack

$169.99

$170.71

$137.74

I know there are options for rims, installation vs. delivery, etc but the core costs, i.e. the tires themselves, would indicate that the Tire Rack would be the way to go in this example.

Tire Rack Comparisions are expensive once shipping to Canada is included. No deals there.

For PCM I entered the tires I ordered from Costco.

Costco was $950 installed all in (incl tax)

PCM is:

$1032.49 tax and shipped without installation or tire tax levy (AB $4/tire). At least $120 if I walk in off the street with tires not purchased through them.

Probably around $1150 all said and done. Not bad but still about $200 more than Costco. Costco also kicks in lifetime flat repair and balancing. This is important when you run winter sets for 7 years.

PMC is usually pretty good. I think it depends on the tire you need. For example; I priced out tires for the G37S. This time PMC was cheaper than Costco.

Tires installed. Had to order them in, but when their arrival was emailed arranging the install was pretty painless as discovered Costco's online system for reserving an time.

Breakdown:

Tires: 400.00
Tire install: 60.00
Tire Levy: 16.00

Less Promo code: 60.00
Plus GST 21.00
Minus Gift Card 70.00

367.00 all in

Not bad at all for keeping an older vehicle chugging along

If you can get a place to install it for less than $28 a tire and offer no hassle road hazard warranty, sure. Then Costco was also providing $70 cash card back so if you shop at Costco anyway, you have to get the tires installed less than $11 a tire to break even with Costco's deal.

Actually, the last Micheline PSS I bought for the G37S I took the on-line quote to the Ford dealer where I serviced the old Escape that we had. Why? Two reasons. They have a sign in the service area that says "We will not be undersold on new tires." and two, they have Road Force balance machine there.
