the Ford plant near here was important as well, as it produced a variety of vehicles for about 4 decades, most recently, the Crown Victoria (as well as Mercury Grand Marquis and for a short time, the Lincoln Town Car)...the Crown Victoria vehicles were not only a fairly common full size car for North American families, they were also a staple in the taxi and police services.
either way though, the article was very interesting with lots of new information i didn't know about...great read.
