I wasn't so sure about the new facia at first, but it looks better every time I see one on the road.
The red is the way to go with the CX-5.

Agreed, this makes the Rav4 and the CRV look like the ugly stepsisters.

i also agree that this vehicle, especially in red looks good.

I find interior quality -  both materials grade and assembly, outstanding in the class. Only mainstream car/SUV I know that has soft touch material on the rear door panels. Missing lit windows switches and one-touch down/up windows all around.
40/20/40 rear bench split an excellent and unique feature (new Tiguan will have it too). Cargo space is indeed on the small side and so is the rear passenger space which impacts big time the utility factor for me.

The interior needs some red accents.  ;D

Very nice, inside and out.  My only concern would be the longevity of that suede over time.  It already looks a bit rough in the pics (but maybe it's just the pics).

I'd have a really tough time deciding between the RAV and the CX-5.  The Mazda is as good looking as any CUV has been, and the new AWD system is great too.  If I lived in the US, Toyota for sure as Mazda has no traction there, so dealers suck, are sparse, and resale blows.  But Canadians love Mazdas, so those issues are not so north of 49.

I dunno how the CX-5 is small in terms of cargo... It held as much, if not more, than the Forester when we used both to move my wife home from Ithaca.  It's wider and has more height in the cargo Bay, even if it may be a bit shorter... And the 40/20/40 is wicked in the CX-5.

Great that some toys are available in the mid trim GS!

I love the 40/20/40 in our SFS. It's a must have if you require two child seats.

Flexibility in folding seats is awesome - it really adds to the utility.  When we bought the Corolla, the Civic offered a one-piece folding seat - that was useless to us - we wanted to be able to carry skis and at least one person in the rear seat.  The Corolla's 60/40 seat was a requirement.

One thing I really like in the Highlander that I wonder could be added to more CUVs now that they're larger is the sliding rear seat.  We can increase cargo room when needed and still carry people in the back - they have less leg room, but it works well.

I think the previous Equinox advertised that (goalie in the back seat commercial) and the Prius V has that.

Of course all minivans have that. And I love the 35-30-35 split middle row in my Sienna.

Best looking vehicle in class.  Really sharp.

For such a large vehicle, the CX-5 could benefit from more power.

True of most Mazdas.  Would love to see a turbo in this thing.

Here's hoping that is some kind of synthetic suede-like substance.  Real suede is a poor choice for a seating surface.  Pressure compresses the natural nap of real suede and makes it look like crap in no time at all.

I think Mazda offering a "R" version with the CX-9 engine would make for a very interesting package.
