If I'm reading things right, the Acadia goes from being Flex sized to Explorer sized. It's still bigger than the Edge and Murano.

That's the way it seemed to me.

The looks remind me a bit of the previous generation Envoy....not a bad thing.

Yup, same.  Except the engine points the right way in Durango.  And you can get it with a V8.

The previous Acadia was a pretty big rolly polly thing. As Fob is fond of saying, might as well just roll with a Yukon. This new size will be closer to what the market seems to prefer.

Except there is a big price jump to get in a Tahoe or Yukon.

The interesting point here, to me, is that the Traverse and Acadia were selling well. In fact, the size of the Traverse is what made the sale for me. Moving up to a Tahoe was a no go, as the Traverse was already stretching the budget. The Lambda vehicles ARE big. Which, for people looking for big, happens to be very good.

So GM had the XL sized crossover market all to itself, and now they are going where everyone else is. I suppose the sales figures will tell the tale.

A recent interview at the Detroit show with a GM exec confirmed that the Enclave and Traverse will be staying the same size, a XL Acadia version is a possibility. See, with the new smaller Acadia GM has a true mid size 3 row crossover....something they did not have before.

Probably a smart more in the end.

My bad - thanks for the clarification.

I don't think we'll see a bigger Acadia. This is a good way for GM to differentiate the Acadia from the Enclave (which are often sold out of the same building). I wouldn't be surprised to see the Traverse offered in two sizes though.
