I think the average car buyer's mind works in funny ways.

I agree that the sub-compact sedans look disproportionate in most cases regarless the manufacturer.

Us: Wow, what a pile of crap, why wouldn't people want to buy this beautiful manual midsized wagon instead?
Them: OMGGGGG cheap car/generic SUV take my monies!!!!

The Toyota Yaris sedan looked decent, both the previous and current gen, but yes a majority of subcompact sedans are ugly.
