What's that, JY?  You want me to come and help with 5-way comparo of the new Civic, Corolla, Jetta, Mazda3, and Elantra (all in sedan format and with top trims)?

Very well...I'll check my schedule:  Yup, all clear.

I will bring my Golf TDI - it will smoke the competition.

You have to bring your TDI I guess.  Because VW doesn't sell them right now.....

Test results are out today!

1.5 turbo / CVT: 0-60 in 6.8s, 1/4 mile in 17.7s, a very small tick slower than the previous Si...and that's with a CVT!

Does anyone else see a Mazda6-esque look from that angle?

Wow.  That's pretty damn quick 0-60.  I wonder what the fuel economy will be like.

^ I don't like the long black plastic strip below the Honda symbol, and the black plastic on the mirrors. And the fog light area is huge, with no fog lights?  And this is not a base model, as it has a sunroof.... Does look more substantial though.

Probably an EX with  sunroof. The foglights are a dealer installed option.Foglights were standard if you bought the Touring model though. At least in 2015 that is.
That black plastic strip on the mirrors is present on all models of civic. It is not as large however.

How many old farts buy Civics?
A lot.  Literally, a LOT.

12 is a LOT to me.

There are more Civics at my mother's retirement home than Buicks.

October 21st

Honda has begun manufacturing the all-new 2016 Honda Civic Sedan at its plant in Alliston, Ontario. Scheduled to go on sale at dealerships across the US and Canada in November, the tenth-generation Civic is described by the automaker as “the most ambitious remake of Civic in the model’s 43-year history.”

As the global lead plant for the tenth-generation Civic, Honda of Canada Manufacturing (HCM) will not only be the first plant in the world to launch the new Civic into mass production, but is also responsible for developing the manufacturing processes and technologies to be adopted by all 11 Honda plants globally that will build the new Civic model.

Honda recently announced a significant investment of $857 million over three years to modernize its production facilities in Alliston. The 2016 Civic Sedan and Coupe for North American markets will also be built at Honda’s plant in Greensburg, Indiana, while the new 1.5-liter turbo engine will be made exclusively at the Honda engine plant in Anna, Ohio.

The Civic is Honda’s best-selling model globally, the most popular compact car with individual US car buyers for 9 years running and the outright best-selling car in Canada for 17 consecutive years. The tenth-generation Civic family will include a sedan, coupe, high-performance Si models, a 5-door hatchback and the first-ever Civic Type-R model for the North American market.

Honda has produced more than 9 million Civics in North America since 1986, including more than 4.5 million in Canada and nearly 4.5 million in the United States. Cumulative sales of Civic in North America since its 1973 launch exceed 12 million units, including more than 10.2 million sales in the US and 1.9 million sales in Canada.

Are the Honda Civic and Dodge Dart going to be the only compacts still manufactured in Canada/US in a couple of years? Corolla, Focus, and Cruze are moving to Mexico.

Civics, Corolla and CR-Vs and RAV4s are super popular among retirees.  Cheap to buy, cheap to own, reliable, and hold their value.  My Dad loves his Corolla.  Of course, a Corolla isn't as hard to own when there's a Honda S2000 for summer fun...

Something's telling me that some time from now there will be an Si with my name on it.
I don't like small cars and don't need a big car. 10th gen Civic is built on the same platform as next gen Accord. That's plenty big for me.
The new 1.5T generates 174HP which is more than the mid-90's Audi A4 with 1.8T (150HP). I don't see anyone complaining about its performance. 6.8sec is plenty fast for a budget compact sedan. The Si with 200HP+ will be a hoot.

The new Interior is very well thought out, and includes split (heated available) rear seats, 10-speaker audio.
The level of technology is impressive. The ride quality and NVH seem to impress all reviewers.

Unless priced in mid-30's+, I will be very tempted.

Yep. Family friend of ours, who is in her 90's now, drives a 2002 Civic which she bought new. She traded her 90's land barge Buick LeSabre in for it because the Civic is fuel efficient, easy to park and reliable.
