Yep, it's gonna be pretty damn expensive.  But hey, so are 1/2 ton trucks, and people still buy them like crazy.  And by all accounts the Canyarado sales have exceeded GM's expectations, offering a diesel obviously won't hurt sales.

Impressive towing capacity with the diesel (7700 lbs), but I'm not convinced that the rest of the hardware (brakes, transmission, etc.) on these midsize trucks can handle that much.  Though if derived using the SAE-certified protocol, maybe they can?  I'd like to see someone pull a 7000-lb trailer with a diesel Canyon, compared to a  V6 (or even V8)-equipped half-tonne with comparable tow ratings (obviously need the appropriate axle ratios for each). How much would mileage differ?  How would the towing experience differ?

Weird, it was on the configurator last week.

The option was around $5k.

love when companies pull the whole, our max towing is better than even some v8's from the other guys!...

... yeah, but comparing one guys best with one's worst is hardly a fair thing.

still, looking forward to hearing more...

The diesel Canyon will out tow a gas version any day !! You obviously don't know much about diesels ! The 2.8L Duramax has less hp, but for towing with its 368 lb-ft of torque that is where it will be the better of the two and do it more efficiently than the v6 gas engine !!

Towed a heavy trailer with a taco once,  thought I was going to die,  steering was very light.

I've got 7000lbs to tow,  send them over

Kinda ironic that homicidal GM would try and shame VW.  :o

I'm interested to see how the new Taco V-6 does economy wise.  The old six was atrocious, but Toyota has made giant gains since that old beast was designed.

Would like to see at least some "mild" hybrid truck designs.
