Sorry, but that front end is simply ghastly. I thought that the concept car looked good, but this production version blows chunks especially with the glossy bumper. I thought the 2014 looked boring, and the (2007-2013) earlier design looked the best. They might be making strides in the right direction so far as ride and handling, but this one isn't going to be getting me into the showroom any time soon - heck, it's telling me to stay away.

Not a bad car. Might not be as bold as Nissan Pathfinder/Rogue. But definitely on par with Hond/Toyota design.

Shame about the face.

S-AWC should not be an option, considering the prior dismal sales the Outlander needs all the trump cards it can offer. Writing is on the wall here, I here tick toc with regards to Mitsubishi in Canada if this new vehicle is any indication of their best offerings.

Doesn't stand out from all the others now with the gaping grill.   And the old saying that what goes around comes around surely rings true for the ever incereasing use of chrome on this class of vehicles.   I say, enough already.

I have to agree...it's not a particularly pleasing-to-look-at vehicle.

Beyond aesthetics, it's not priced well to motivate shoppers away from the more established brands.  The powertrains, on paper at least, are not competitive.  If anyone cross-shops this with...well, anything else, there's not much to draw.

Sorry.  I just don't see it.

The V6-powered Outlanders are tow rated for 3,500 lb and are available with third row seating, making them the only Japanese compact SUV on the market to do so.

Doesn't Nissan Rogue come with an available 3rd row?

"The availability of a two-person third row 50/50 split seat (available only in the SV AWD as part of the $2,050 Family Tech Package) adds to the Rogue’s appeal as a family vehicle."

i actually don't mind the styling...the chrome treatment on the front is a bit much for my liking, but as an overall package, i don't mind it...i also like the shape of it (it looks useful and functional, and has a nice sized windows to see out of, like a Forester)...but like the others have said, i can't see any reason to choose this over many of its competitors.

Just to clarify, the red one in the lead photo has some dealer installed body bits... namely that chin thing and side skirts. Definitely not becoming. See pics of the white one for a more accurate representation.

Nope - not enough difference in the looks worth comparing. Same glossy black bumper, same overall appearance.

As some have noted, it looks quite practical, with enough room to hold quite a bit of stuff.  An important criterion to be sure.

That said, the price is not that competitive, save for the 4 cyl AWD drive version (maybe).

And that front!    :o   Makes me think of:

Although strangely attractive, it would take some getting used to, that is for sure.

My wife had a nearly new previous gen. Outlander for a couple weeks as a loaner while the RL was getting patched up.

It was so bad I didn't bother to write about. It and the last generation Chrysler 200 are the 2 worst new vehicles I've driven.

No word on the 2016 Outlander PHEV (top selling PHEV in Europe)?

http://www.mitsubishi-motors-pr.ca/ca/en/media/pressreleases/14714/mitsubishi-outlander-phev-arrives-at-vancouver-show

The PHEV is selling so well in Europe they delayed the North American launch till the 2016 model year because they can't build enough.

I will say the 2016 is a step up from the 2015.  However still seems a few steps back from the competition.
