Sad to see it go, but that gives you more time for F-bodies!

Sad to see it go but I think that is the right choice. Its a BIG project to set right - even just to get safe. Much better to tackle several smaller projects. Poland is a great place for it to end up. It will likely get restored there (cheap and talented labour from what I understand) then sold on somewhere else.

What's next?  ;D

Aww that sucks. You totally made the responsible, adult decision but I would have still loved to have followed the resto on here.
Lighten up Francis.....

When I saw the first pictures of the car it wasn't clear how one could restore it without  a full scale body shop that had experience with old British cars...I know there are some around but they ain't cheap.
I wonder how much a brand new unibody would cost shipped from the U.K. I think some company makes them still.

Well, I think it was a pretty good flip for you in the end... totally get that it would've been a HUGE undertaking for you!!

I'm not sure if I know anyone who's completed a E-Type restoration. With good reason.

At least it's not still rotting away.

Correct, but they're out there. The guy (yes, a 1-man shop) that is just finishing my dad's MGTC has done multiple E-types, some worse than this one, to an exceptionally high standard. To do just the body shell on this (I would've done the rest) you're easily around $25K. Probably another $25K for so in parts to get the rest done...Still in-line with what the market is commanding for finished cars, but not the right timing for me to take on something this major.

My dad has owned a half dozen or so E-Types over the last 10 years or so, nothing this major, but some solid non-runners and whatnot that we've reconditioned. They're tougher to work on than say an MG, but relatively speaking, they're still simple DIY friendly cars.

x2.  Would be cool if you got updates from new owner.
