It's because Honda is a better engineering company.

Yes, Honda is such a great engineering company that they had to do 3 re-designs in what..5 years?

Start tearing a Toyota apart and see the engineering.  From the fasteners to the superb D4S injection system they build stuff that works and works well for a long long time.

What I love about the company is that they rarely rush into things.  Everyone was piling DI engines into everything and then dealing with carbon problems, Toyota stayed the course and kept giving us solid powerplants.  They rolled out CVTs well into the game, and their units are about the best you can find.  Sure they goof, but they seem to do it less than anyone else.

Want to see engineering?  Check out the bottom end of a 2JZ turbo engine.  Wow.

There was nothing wrong with the previous Civics.  They actually listened to the reviews/market..  And said yeah, we can do better.... Rather that just waiting another few years..

I agree.  John.  I didn't mean to understate that Toyota doesn't do great engineering, but lately it seems only when they want to...  Major props for the hybrid lineup, although the new Prius design makes me want to run...

The 2JZ bottom end is pretty tough.  But they couldn't have done any worse than its 7M predecessor.  Talk about a nasty engine there.  Very prone to head gasket issues.  And holy lag compared to its competition in that era.

And Toyota isn't bumping the Camry, Rav4, Corolla, etc.
Depends on your definition of "bumping"...

Corolla has been "bumped" from Cambridge North to Mexico :P; Rav4 is now being built in both Cambridge North AND Woodstock (existing production).

But that's to increase/better production of these vehicles

don't forget that Toyota opened a plant in Blue Springs, MS a few years ago...they could possibly shift work there...they currently produce the Corolla there.

Mostly, the reason we are losing the Venza is slow sales in the US.  They don't like wagons/hatches.  And the Venza is bit of everything, hatchback, CUV.

The reason is lack of production facilities.

In the later part of 2016 Toyotas agreement with Subaru Indiana will terminate after 9 years.  100K Toyota Camrys will then move to Georgetown KY.  Because the Lexus ES line is now assembled in Georgetown the Venza was the odd man out.  500K units are assembled in Georgetown along with 600K engines.  The plant was reached it's transport infrastructure capacity.

If it sold, they'd find a spot for it. But it's been a clunker in the US market for years.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

The 2016 Venza is all about massive look and powerful engine, one of the best segments on the market. And what do you think?
