BRZ starts at $27,395 + dest ($1,650) to $31,395 (+$1,650).

So, yeah, base BRZ is cheaper than this Fiat 500 Turbo that Jacob tested.

Should the two cost the same, I'd NEVER have bought the 500!  ;D

Where is yours built ? First digit of Vin or sticker of drivers door will show assembly.

SU-SZ   Poland
3A-3W   Mexico

The Polish ones were sold here until 2010, and from 2011 on, the Mexicans (mine included) started appearing.
If I'm not mistaken, its VIN starts with 3C3!

As the owner of one, it is really surprising to see the amount you guys are charged for one of those.
Comparing it to a BRZ? A Mini? That's just nuts! I paid R$43,600.00 for my loaded 500, while a BRZ costs around R$170,000.00 here! It's unbeliavable.

All issues aside (I haven't had ANY with mine), the huge price difference makes it a no brainer, especially when compared to the domestic crap we have here.

Harry clearly lives in a different world....so Harry, we are talking about the Canadian market here.

One must be so careful when shopping for, or buying a 500. Ordering one seems to be the way to go in order to avoid the needless and expensive options that can, and did in this case, push the price to ridiculous levels. The base car has the same cuteness and Italian character as the tester for about half the price. The Abarth raises the bar in all respects. The 500c, however, would be my choice as it takes the joy of driving and the uniqueness factor and adds a subdued open-air joy. Mi piace davvero!

Final thought...the new MINI Cooper (not the S) pretty well renders the 500 Turbo dead in the water. It does everything better for the same or less money.

Love those colours on the 500!

I'm pretty aware of that. Actually, that's the main reason I signed up for this board.

Just wanted to point out the differences, sorry if I offended you  ;)

Don't mind us...we tend to get a little mean sometimes.  It's because we love 'everyone'.  Perhaps 'love' should also be a qualified term.  ;D

I'm at 5,200 and I get no love :(  Even Jacob threatened to break up with me for saying that I wouldn't buy a manual.  I took back my statement as quick as I could!!

I got a huge kick out of the Abarth. The noise alone was worth the price of admission. Having said that, I'd think long and hard about putting money down on one. Lots of reliability and assembly issues, which is really too bad, because the car gets so much right, relatively unsorted suspension aside.

The sensible choice for a small road rocket is the Fiesta ST. Excellent suspension, great engine, slick shifter, terrific seats and is screwed together well.
...and cheaper than this :censor: by $3,000!

I just built a base Turbo 500 and a base Fiesta ST.  Fiat is 20k, FiST is 25k.  So 5k less for Fiat.  All depends on how you spec them I guess.  Also I noticed Fiat has $2000 incentive on them now that's not mentioned in the article.

I still have a long way to go then  :P

I forgot to mention (still talking about my market, I know) mexican cars get a 30% "off MSRP" (tax incentive) here.
It helps a lot to bring the 500's price down.
Nissan, VW, GM, Ford and Fiat/Chrysler love it.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Surely I'm biased, but that's pretty much the price I paid for my Hyundai VT - similarly sized, an extra door, extra 50 torques and 66 horses and been getting around 8L/100km in the city/hwy here in Saskatchewan winter. And reliability-wise I got faith in my little hatch. To each their own but this is at least more comparable (unlike BRZ, GTI, etc).
