I have to say there isn't a single flag in that selection of "alternates" that I like better.

I actually find the Canadian flag very unique and at the same time simple...I like that.
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

Yup, it's simple, but distinct, and that makes it perfect. 

It's really an awesome example of graphic design.

Funny thing, the Canadian flag came up in discussion with the tour guide on a tour I took while in OZ on business.  He thinks they should've gone our route and thumbed their collective noses at the British Empire long ago, by adopting their own new flag like we did.
