I think it's a pretty well done little car - probably a better overall offering than the more-cramped-than-it-should-be Regal.

By the way, real world mileage with the turbo, in September (I would never look at mileage in the winter! Too depressing!) is very good in my opinion;

Trip: 2,260 kms, average speed 79 kph (includes small towns and traffic), highway speed usually 120 kph/74 MPH.  Average fuel economy 8.4 L/100 km

How much highway are we talking here, percentage wise?  I saw much better numbers on a summer trip to Maine in my Sonata, with 3 passengers and luggage for a week. (3 female passengers, so... luggage for 2 weeks.  :rofl: )

Sounds like yours might be better, as this was also on a trip to Maine. Although we got caught in stop and go rush hour traffic on the highways coming home (95, 495), also stop and go in the coastal towns like Kennebunkport and Ogunquit, and a lot of in town type short travel. Anyway, the mileage isn't bad, but it is premium gas.

Love that part of the coast! We own a cottage / vacation rental in York, the town just South of Ogunquit. Going there for Spring Break, actually. They're buried in snow this year!

Yeah it's a great area, we try to go to southern Maine at least a couple times a year. Love Portland.

Absolutely! We stayed in York Harbor at the Dockside Guest Quarters, highly recommended "quaint" cabins on the waterway at harbor exit. Watch the lobster boats exit at dawn fighting the tides..... Great restaurant on site too. Went out boating with the owner. We will go back to the same place for sure.

Also loved visiting Portsmouth, NH less than 1/2 hour away. Only thing wrong about the area is, a lot of places didn't serve good beer! They seemed to want to sell only local seasonal craft beers like pumpkin flavored ale, yuck..... Not even a Sam Adams to be found, strange because that is supposed to be an "institution" in that area.

Oops, hijacking the thread, sorry, got carried away.   :)  Here's the place we stayed.

Dunno. In my mind the two words mean the same. In other words, I always have used premium gas when an engine calls for it as the performance, economy and engine internals all benefit. I also avoid ethanol whenever possible, and only go to Ultramar if one is available for that reason. I have a snow blower that uses regular but if that gas is used, the carb gums up from the ethanol to the point where it will barely start after 2 seasons, and will not after 3.

From the user manual " use premium unleaded gasoline with a posted octane rating of 91 or higher. You can also use regular unleaded gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher, but the vehicle's acceleration could be slightly reduced ". I guess that means "recommended", but I suggest reading it as "required"  :)

you should NEVER use ethanol blended fuels in any small engine (lawnmower, trimmer, snow blower, etc)...i would even push that to any motorcycle as well...i use Shell V-Power in my car and fill the "gas can" up with it for my lawnmower, trimmer and snowblower (with fuel stabilizer mixed in too).

We stay at our place, of course  ;D

We love eating at the York Harbour Inn (both the Inn restaurant and the ship-hull pub downstairs), Robert's in Kittery and the Union Grill at the Union Bluff Hotel. Next week, we'll be trying at least one place in old Portsmouth.

Yuck, American beer!   :hurl:

There's more to American beer than Miller Lite and Bud, you know...

On hot summer days, I really like Rolling Rock, and there are plenty of interesting microbrewery stuff like Shipyard's on the East Coast.

LOL, so in reality most places actually DID serve good beer. Can't say I've ever been in a New England restaurant that didn't offer decent craft beers.

Must have pissed off the big beer drinkers.  I was being sarcastic! (well...mostly).  I try American stuff once in a while, but stick mostly with Canadian and German brands.

I still can't get past the front and rear end styling and that center stack reminds me of a parking meter.   The mileage isn't great either, at least compared to my Passat tsi, which is showing overall average of 7.6 l/100 km.

The Verano has 250hp and does 0-60 in 6.4 seconds, and the quarter in 15.2 @ 98mph. The Passat has 170hp and does 0-60 in 7.5 seconds and the quarter in 15.7 @ 89mph.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

The best my Verano Turbo with manual has seen is 39 mpg(6.0l/100km) on a full tank of premium at 60 mph. At 70 mph cruise control setting it is 37 mpg(6.3l/100 km) through hilly Pennsylvania.

I usually see 30 mpg(7.8l/100km) with 50/50 city/highway daily commute of 8 miles one way. In the heart of the coldest weather this year in February,  just south of Lake Erie, one tank rendered 24 mpg(9.8l/100km). I was quite shocked as it was 0-10F for most of the three weeks that it takes me to go through a tank.

On E85 it was worse than any of the above recordings.

By the way, real world mileage with the turbo, in September (I would never look at mileage in the winter! Too depressing!) is very good in my opinion;

Trip: 2,260 kms, average speed 79 kph (includes small towns and traffic), highway speed usually 120 kph/74 MPH.  Average fuel economy 8.4 L/100 km
