The GTR didn't need more power, it needed less weight.  If anything this new hybrid tech will add more pounds to an already overweight machine.  The only thing the GTR needed more of was character and soul, hardly something one can add with hybrid tech.

Same old tired lines....the GTR had plenty of character and soul with the 2012 version. Most every writer said the same. No AWD vehicle will ever feel as light or fun as a RWD car, which is what they are comparing it to.

Let me guess....you've never been in one, right?
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I'd take a GT-R in a NANOSECOND.  Haters talk about video game BS.  It's a super-car, plain and simple.  With 800HP...

YEAH!!

Agreed.  I have driven my friends 2012 GT-R.  Amazing machine.  Tons of character.

It'll eat the heart out of a many super cars for half the price.  But it doesn't have the cachet of those cars.

Perhaps the definition of cache should be changed to: "the feeling you get when you're staring at the disappearing taillights of a GT-R through the windscreen of your $250K exotic..."

This thing should help put an end to some of the silly anti-hybrid attitudes expressed by car journalists and on enthusiast websites.
And some cretins think I hate cars.

You're right, I've never been in one and therefore have never driven one.  I'm just making assumptions based on what other journalist have said in the past.  You'll see that no where did I say that the car isn't a very fast car, especially for the price.  I love the fact that this car exists but doesn't mean I don't think they can improve upon it.  In my opinion they would have improved the vehicle much more if they were able to cut a couple of 100 kgs out of the vehicle than adding a hybrid tech.  It would probably end up saving around the same amount of fuel in everyday driving, would be a faster car around a track, and be less hard on things like brakes, suspension parts, and tires.

It's just my opinion, based on reading/viewings I've had on the vehicle over the years.  I have not ever driven one and if I could afford one I probably would go for a Jag F Type Coupe V8 over this.  For the simple fact that it looks and sounds 1,000X better and only really loses points on the track, which I never really visit anyway.
