Did MB just out Golf R the Golf R?  It's not even close to a CUV, this thing is a hatch.

I'd expect this thing to cost significantly more than the Golf R though, right?

Golf R = ~$40k??

GLA45 = ....$55k? 60k?

Yeah, I'd think so. I imagine it will be close but a little more expensive than the CLA45

It won't be $55-60k base. The CLA45 is $49,800. I'd expect it to be right around there.

still about $8k too high.  My benchmark is the S4 for value at $53k...and for $4k more, there's no way I'd choose a CLA45 over the S4.  The S3 cheaper at $44k...MB is getting a lil' 'spensive.

True, I was probably a little high.  I'd expect it will be slightly higher than the CLA.  Maybe a 52k base?

The devil's in the details for options and how that might compare to the "only comes loaded" Golf R.

Agreed, the S4 is such an awesome car at $54k.

This vs the Porsche Mancan.....though choice.

I'm guessing the Macan is significantly larger.

I saw the production Macan and prototype GLA45 AMG at LA and they are about the same size. The Macan actually might be a smidge shorter.

They're not even close.

Macan

Length: 184.29"
Width: 76.14"
Height: 63.35"

GLA

Length: 173.9"
Width: 71"
Height: 58.8"

Which GLA dimensions are those? Seriously, the Macan looks so much leaner in person versus the prototype Merc had on display.
