Looks like a good idea but guys like Black would need a step ladder  :) There is still a requirement for a brush and my 2in1 works fine.

I am interested in it mainly for removing frost, not snow or heavy ice formations.  My traditional ice scraper does not conform well to the windshield and only removes a half inch at a time.  :P

What do you need that for? Just hit the remote starter button about a half hour before you need to leave. Quick swipe of the wipers once you get in, and you're all set. Won't need a fancy heated steering wheel either!

I find an old windex bottle full of -40 windshield washer fluid works the best for ice. No scraping involved.
Lighten up Francis.....

Exactly..... I just walk out and start the vehicle and let it idle for 10 minutes.

Well, I was being a little facetious (no remote starter in the GTI, anyway).

I'll usually start the car first, then grab the brush/scraper and go to work while the car idles. The scraper on the end of the brush is good enough for me. The GTI takes forever to warm up, so I bet I'd have to let it sit for 30 minutes before it puts out any heat. It often takes 10-15 minutes of easy driving before it comes up to temp.

My wife always uses the remote starter on the Yukon. It only goes for ten minutes at a time, and I think she often does it twice.

All my wifes friends are awesome at that, letting their vehicles go 2 or 3 cycles of the remote starter.....

:O HALF HOUR?!

Clearly you need a turbocharged Subaru - my Forester, with defrosters on, melts any ice on the windshield and hatch before I can even get the snow off the hood/roof!

I can't imagine your Yukon would have any gas left in the tank if you left it to idle for half hour!  ;D

Which Black are you talking about Willis?

That would be you  :) I seen a pic of you sitting in the back of a compact car in one of the articles. I'm guessing you are 5'-2"?

Keeps the windshield frost free all night long; get in the car, start it, fold the cover, go.

If it's that easy, I'd consider one (and where would I get it?) - but I have doubts:
1) I'd still have to scrape the side/rear windows (failing to do so would be silly, Sir).
2) Does the cover repel water/ice formation, such that a brief shake would remove all snow, etc from it?  If not, then you'd be putting a snow/ice-covered sheet in your trunk...and then you'd have a bad time.
3) How much does this magical device cost?
4) How long does it last?
5) How do I find time in my day to be on this forum so much?
