I think this would resolve all the "power, refinement issues" of a 911. 993 GT2........this is truly a bad ass car.

Lighten up Francis.....

The 993 was my favorite.  I'd take a turbo or a GT2.  Still pretty pricey on the used market.

Lesley et al., which Porsche generation and model are you referring to with the "telepathic" feel? Boxster, Cayman, 911 Carrera, S, Turbo, GT2, GT3, something else? Also, is that on road or track?

Just wondering because the only two models I've driven (996 C2 and 996 Turbo) didn't feel that communicative in terms of front end feedback when driving at 8/10ths on public roads. To be specific, I'm referring to the turn in feel here. I imagine this may be different in a Boxster/Cayman/GT3/RS or even a Carrera when pushed hard on the track?

Fiction is the lie through which we tell the truth

That's what I'm saying.  If it's the new 991...I'd be inclined to agree (even though I haven't driven one.)

If it's the 996/997...the TT RS is the better car.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

The Cayman, particularly the "R" is the ultimate in feedback. That mid-engined center of balance just gave me the feeling that I could transmit what I wanted, merely by thinking about it. I felt the same way about the 911 Turbo S 2 years ago, but respected its power just a little bit more.
996C2 and 996 Turbo - agreed, there isn't the raw athleticism of some of the other Porsches. There, I'd say the Audi is more on par, and in some ways better.
GT2 - OK, this is a public forum so I'd better not say what I reallllly feel about that car, suffice it to say the few days I spent with it felt like an illicit affair.
If I can't drive 'em... I'll draw 'em!

Yes, GT2 = Incredible.  But, so is the price.

If I could go 911 shopping, I'd look for a 993 911 Turbo.  Sure, they're slower than the newer ones, but they're brutal, raw machines that are very demanding of the driver.  The problem is that there are too many people like me and those cars are very expensive, especially considering their age.

They're totally out of my snack bracket. I'm just grateful that I get the opportunity to experience cars like Porsches and Audi - I couldn't care less about most material things but when I see useless celebrities like the Lindsay Lohans and Paris Hiltons of the world driving such cars... it's the only time I feel a burning envy for those with stupid money.

You got it wrong, its a hairdressers car  :) Still smiling after 15 months and no issues thus far with the FGC.

That long already?  Seems like just yesterday.  This car kicks all kinds of butt.

having driven a 911 several years ago (it was a 1996 NA convertible, whatever those were called)...it really was an experience that is hard to describe...the car didn't "feel fast", but was...upon glancing down at the speedo, i realized i was doing 130 in a 50 (OOPS!!!)...it felt like i was doing 60...of course, the local police wouldn't accept that as an excuse...i don't know how they do it, but that car manages speed and handling that is like no other car...it does it in an effortless manner that must be experienced for you to understand.

that said, if i were in the market for a fun car, it would likely be the TT-RS...i haven't driven one (but i doubt i would NOT like it), but it is so much car for about $70k, that it would be tough to turn down...that said, i have seen a few C63 AMGs on the road recently and they look pretty sweet too (and sound amazing).

After yesterday's hoonage  my TTRS wont be going anywhere soon. The harder I pushed in the corners the better it felt. Even putting the right wheels into the gravel shoulder did not seem to upset the car and it was quite forgiving.

When it's right, it's right. Went on a road trip with the Miata Club yesterday and we found three mountain roads that were very challenging. Pushing the little machine to and sometimes past it's limits was very satisfying. It's a wonderful car to drive, and today, I can't ever see myself selling it.
