Why choose it? It's nice to look at and the cabin is nice, but it's basically just another lux-category soft-roader SUV. The harshest conditions it will ever see is the teeny bit of gravel to the cottage and maybe some snow covered roads.
Real off-road? Well, it has some of the goods, but it has no low range or locking diff and it rides on those low profile 19" tires.
It really is "just another" X3, Q5, etc, etc. How many will we see out crawling over rocks and stumps? The old Disco can be found doing that. Not the LR2.
