Undoubtedly a fabulous engine but does a 6.2 litre engine really fit the zeitgeist  of the 2nd decade of the 21st century?   Maybe a 350 bhp 3 litre in a C7 that weighs only 2400-2500 lbs to get the same performance?   GM engineers could build one at a reasonable price ( both the engine and the car) if they were let loose to do it.

 :iagree:

I was thinking that is a lot of money & effort to invest in a limited application, unless G.M. plans to use this block for other applications. Maybe a base for their pickups. Otherwise.....welcome to the 90's

I think theyll probably do this what they did with the old style LS motor, different top ends, aluminum/iron blocks, different displacements and they can use the base motor in a crapload of applications.
Lighten up Francis.....

My take is the funding was not there to move the platform into the 2020's. No money for OHC engine. This pushrod is tweaked about as far as you can without a whole new architecture.

Very impressive and proves that the small block GM is still a serious competitor.

You could look it as they have taken the pushrod to a level that is competitive with any OHC motor out there.

As well as more compact, lower CG and less expensive. No doubt there are some advantages to a pushrod.

I couldn't care less about OHV, OHC, DOHC or whatever.  GM's V-8s are a$$-kicking engines, and the fact that they share some heritage with the very cool small blocks dating back to the 1950's is sweet.
