I think it should be "Far fewer serious injuries..."

Nothing much will protect a Volvo driver if they get T-boned by a drunk in an F350 at an intersection or by a train on a crossing.

Seriously, will anyone want to drive a Volvo that has all these safety features?  Didn't Volvo try this once before in the '70s as a concept car that looked more like a Brinks truck than a car?

No matter how idiot proff they make something, someone will become the better idiot and somehow bypass all those safety features unwittingly. If you are a horrid, dangerous driver, maybe its not someones responsibility to make the car suit you.

Yep...safety was always their niche and they are still identified in many people's minds with being "safe" so they might as well run with it.
