i hear from cbc that apparently this reactor was to be decommissioned in 2 weeks... after 40 solid years of service. there are literally hundreds of reactors in the world, and how many nuclear reactor disasters do we really hear about?
really.. after 9.0 scale earthquake, which by the way would probably fall every building in calgary, and it's still standing.. yes, it's leaking a bit... but they say chernobyl type would not happen, even if the reactor fails, and explosion would be contained...
it would be catastrophic but not any worse than city living, right? where everything causes cancers anyway.
