Any further and the Golf lineup could rival the 911s for pure "variation" :)

Bring back the Golf Cabrio, add a Targa version, a super-light GT3...
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

Yeah, this is the car I think they should have brought over instead.

Most GTI owners have their cars reflashed. The same applies to WRX and STI owners I'd think.

That's just not true. Most owners? Really? I would bet against that.

Yeah, I fully agree.  Thousands of GTI's are sold every year and I would be surpised if even 10% of them were flashed.  Most enthusiasts on car forums flash thier GTI's, but they are a huge minority in overall sales.

A vast majority of GTIs I see in my part of the woods are modded. I can't tell if the ECU has been flashed, but I can see they got rid of the stock height, stock tailights etc.

I don't know these people, I just see them on the road, but I'd think they also have some engine mods. The fact that they look mid 20s might have something to do.

By far the majpority of cars out there can't have the same HP and Torque bump from a simple reflash that the GTI does..simply becuase most cars aren't trunbos. Chips usually have a minor effect on NA engines. Turbo engines do becuase boost pressure can so eaily be manipulated by software.

I'm not defending VW's lower HP/$ figures just the idea that most or even lots of cars can get a large power boost with a reflash. I agree that given the weight AND the the AWD that 300 hp would be nice. The AWD eliminates the issues with putting big HP through the front wheels .

I was talking about this class. I think every competitor for either the R or the GTI have a turbo.

I'm not trying to be tough here, I love this car. Just addressing what I view as issues in an otherwise almost perfect car. For my personal tastes I think this should have a little more power. I don't disagree that it's completely adequate for some.

Don't know about the R. Not sure who the competitors are..not many with AWD come to mind yet.

As got tyhe GTI

Competitors?

Mazdaspeed 3-Turbo
WRX-Turbo
Sentra SER- No Turbo
Civic Si-No Turbo

I don't think the SER is a "true competitor." No way I'm going with that over any of the other cars on that list.

Civic Si - good point. But I also find it to have a "lack of power" in my eyes.

I'm a power whore though, so let's be clear.

I suppose you could add the Cobalt SS to that list as a turbo - but it's now done production.

I might be wrong, but I thought the Cobalt SS was a super charger and not a turbo?

205HP supercharged from 2005-2007, then 260HP Turbocharged from 2008-2010

How about the Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart? I know it doesn't sell in much volume but it is AWD and turbocharged.

Speaking of turbos... I suppose the R uses the K04 setup instead of the K03?

Is the Audi S3 also on the way? I have a chance test drive a 2001 S3 and it is a very nice package even compare to a Mk5 Glof R32

I would imagine they would see how the Golf R sells before they go ahead with the S3.
So chances are the current generation S3 won't be coming to N/A.
