I haven't driven any super-exotics, but a few cars like an Esprit, Ferrari 308 and such, and none were as useful as a 911. Also, none of them are as durable, and require much more frequent and expensive service.
And that is why I stayed away from many that I really would like to own. I think the shine of many of them wears thin after a while when you spend most of your time just trying to keep them running; forget about taking any of them half-way across the country.
I was looking at a 308 right up to a 360 Modena (if I could handle Kraft dinners for the next ten years), an Acura NSX, Lotus Esprits, even a 2nd gen Toyota MR-2 which reminds me of a 246 Dino, another car I have a soft spot for.
But looking at a thread where the owner had to do a clutch job on his F-360 showing the step by step pics of things being taken apart, I was very disappointed in the quality, and that was an early 2000s car.
