The Marmon Sixteen was a "fabulous car," says auto historian, Bill Vance. Its 8-litre (491 cu in.) overhead valve, aluminum, 45-degree, V16 developed 200 horsepower, "but it had arrived at the worst possible economic time - the depth of the Depression."

What gorgeous cars!..Way ahead of their time with their extensive use of aluminum in their engines and cars...Too bad they had such bad luck. We may have been driving them today with a little break...I love this era (late 20's/early 30's). It seemed to be the era of modern awakening...the lovely paint-jobs...custom  bodies...Big brutal engines... Thanks for a nice review..

Thank you so much for doing these articles.  I absolutely love the 20's / 30's cars, and usually their stories are convoluted, but you do an admirable job of simplifying them.  I also love being introduced to brands I have never heard of before.

I did a Google Image search on Marmon Sixteen, and there is an absolutely stunning, drop-dead gorgeous two seat convertible.  I don't know if it's actually a Sixteen as per the caption, but a gorgeous car nonetheless.
