Interesting article.

I recently asked people on the forum about getting into motorsports and it looks like you need to be prepared to go without insurance whenever you get on a track.

Wonder if it's also the same for 'driving schools' such as this.  As I found out in my research, there are several opportunities of this kind in Ontario (an article on Ontario opportunities would be good too!), but the insurance question makes me hesitate.

Julie, insurance is good if it is a school.

Check out this article I wrote last year.  If you are itching, the Saab school has open spots in October!

Looks like these kinds of events are no go's for many insurers these days...

The BMW Club driving school's advice is to consider your insurance void (given 'current insurance climate')

Too bad.

What's the current insurance climate?  Make tons of cash by hosing customers?

Yup.  The insurers lost lots of money with the US credit crisis....

Doesn't matter if it's a driving school, if you're there to learn driving skills and not racing skills, if there is no timing whatsoever, if there's an instructor with you in your car always, etc., etc...

I heard the G1 tests now include lots of questions about demerit points, license suspensions, fines, and penalties.

Yeah... Because knowing that will definitely improve your skills at operating a vehicle....

What a retarded climate we live in.

I learned the old fashion way... with parents rwd domestic tank car on hard-packed snow-covered logging roads*  :)  same laws of physics apply.

* one 4x4 and safety line required for cooked corners. modern cars would not survive a run-in with a snowbank with all that plastic.
