Fantastic colour for a fantastic car!  Congrats!  Even living in super-over-saturated-3-series land of the west GTA, I don't recall ever seeing that colour before.  I certainly prefer it (at first glimpse) to the Sparkling Graphite Metallic I've got (along with everyone else!). 

If fuel consumption becomes bothersome for you, let me know and I'd be happy to switch engines.  Those turbos can really suck up the go-juice.  ;)

Road trip this weekend - 300 km to S of Montreal and back on Monday. Will see what the mileage is. It claims 10.1 for all the short city drives I've done in the past week ("Honey, it gets better mileage than the mini-van..."). Of course it's going to be compared to my previous car for highway mileage. That was a 2003 Accord 4 cyl, which managed 7l/100km or better day in day out cruising to and from Montreal if I kept it under 120.

Questions to the owners out there with autos - the box starts off in second gear by default it seems. Hypothetically, if I wanted to, umm, clear the cylinders of deposits, what's the proper procedure (does it simply start in 1st if I boot it?). Inquiring Minds Want To Know.

I remember doing Italian tune ups on my 1973 Elan.  6000 rpm in 3rd for a few miles made a difference.

That went away with carbs and ignition with manually set points.  Modern engines just are not improved by that treatment. Now your automatic transmission may relearn your driving style if you drive faster, accelerate harder and use Tiptronic.

Well, I recall spraying carb de-gunker down the pice of s**t engine on my first car (a very used and very beat up 76 VW Rabbit). I left clouds of blue smoke behind me everywhere I went...  ::)

Nice car!  That darker colour sets off her curves very nicely.  I've always thought the 3 series BMWs had the nicest proportions of all the BMWs.  No offence to you 5 series owners, of course.

Do you have the Steptronic tranny, or the one that's in the 328i? Big difference. If you have Step, just put into SportDrive and boot it. If the other one, not sure.

Does it really 'learn' if you drive in Tiptronic? I don't feel any difference for one.

So they claim IIRC  that's why I said "may" .   My DSG transmission is also supposed to learn and I can't tell either.  8)

Is there actually a difference in the auto transmissions between the paddle shifters and non? the gear ratios are all the same on the spec sheet. My car does throttle blips on downshifts, etc.

I'm not very informed on the 3 Series trannies. On the 5 Series, you can get Steptronic with or without the paddles. There is also a Sport Auto Tranny (SAT) but you will have to go on BMW sites to get the real differences.
