Porsche Panamera - first Ride-Along review
« on: April 01, 2009, 01:50:13 am »
From Edmunds,
herehttp://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=145166?tid=edmunds.il.home.photopanel..2.*

Although it's severely lacking in looks from photos, especially rear quarters, it looks to be a Great lux/sports sedan.  ..I actually even like the looks now..  (I hate to be flippant, but... look is growing on me.)

At approx. 3900-4000 lbs, it is way lighter than its competitions, and with standard 400~ HP V8 and 90k price, it seems relatively well positioned against its competitors like CLS 550, Maserati Quattro Porte.

hmm...  maybe a family-man's porsche is finally here.  (i guess for those who are phobic to the reportedly excellent Cayenne).

I like it.

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

I agree the looks are starting to grow on me as well. Except for the rear.

I'd rather have a Maserati Quattraporte.

I'd much rather have the Panamera.  I'm increasingly impressed by this car.  Sounds like a great drive.  I am a little surprised that you can get a three-pedal Cayenne but not a three-pedal Panamera.  But setting that issue aside (and it's not like many people in this price class want a three-pedal sedan), it sounds amazing.

And can I say: best back seat ever?

Quote
The rear seats are eight-way power-adjustable units that not only recline but also feature adjustable thigh support and powered lumbar support. There are seat heaters and flow-through cooling fans in the bottom cushions and backrests. This is quite a departure in backseat design from the company that brought you the jump seats in the back of the 911.

I like big BUTTS and I cannot lie...

Okay, I just did.  Gigantic posteriors don't float my boat and I'm really not feelin' the AMC Pacer look on the Panamera any more than I did on the 928.  It MAY be that it looks better in the metal than in the photos, but it's got a long climb up from fugly buffalo butt.

Rear seat looks great in the pic - so long as the occupants don't have real long legs.

Looks pretty good. I'm warming up to it.

The interior looks fantastic. Definitely something the guy in the corner office (who drives a Maserati) would want to sink his teeth into.

I'm surprised you didn't say CTS-V.

And the best seats ever are in the Lexus LS460L/600H.  All of the perks of the Porsche's...but with a recliner and massage!!!  :)

Even in the last generation LS the backseat is a great place to be.

I was just thinking Maser versus Porsche.  But if I was going to drop big money on a no-compromises luxurious sport sedan...gosh, I don't know, there's so many great options.  M5, CTS-V, Quatroporte, Panamera, the upcoming Rapide...I just don't know.  Both the Porsche and the Caddy would be vying for top of the pack, though.

The LS back seat is an absolute-no-compromises luxury sedan.  The Panamera is what the back seat of a luxurious sport-sedan should be.  I don't think one is better than the other, they're just really different in my mind.

If would look pretty good if the Chevette were never invented.
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.

I'd say those back seats win.
