They are still selling vheicles everyday and actually sold how many million last year. Even in a recession now they will still sell millions but less then before of course just lie everybody else. No matter what happens GM will still be here in one form or another.  :)
I actually really doubt it...they have signed themselves a one way ticket to oblivion.  Unless they keep getting bailouts.  If that happens then they can go on making the same mistakes over and over again.  No amount of positive thinking is going to get them out of this.  They need to chop brands and models...and do it fast.

Unfortunately, they need to make a profit on the vehicles sold. Sales are meaningless without profit. Many makers today are having their profits slashed, or reduced to losses (such as Toyota this current year), BUT, in the longer term, every company has to make a profit or it fails. This has been the problem for particularly GM and Chrysler in the past several years. GM has had some $80 Billion in losses over the past 3 years BEFORE counting the problem-year of 2009 that we are now in.

Profit is the answer, thus sales that make a profit are necessary. NO OTHER WAY.
