Which is completely contrary to what Inside Line was just saying:

No idea what to believe.

I hope its a go...Toyota needs a sporty and reasonably cheap vehicle in their stable.

Toyota-Subaru sports car due in 2011

The new Toyota model was set to be launched in Europe in 2011.

GENEVA -- The first results of Toyota's project to build a sports car powered by Subaru's boxer engine will be seen about two years from now, according to a company official.

The product planner, who did not wish to be named, said that the model was set to be launched in Europe in 2011, and that it would contest the market "at around the level the Celica used to occupy."

The Celica, which disappeared from Toyota's range in 2005, sat below the Audi TT in price.

No official details or name have yet been given for the sports car, which has Subaru's rally-pedigree engine at the front, driving the rear wheels. The transmission is mounted in unit with the rear axle for optimum weight distribution and handling, said the source.

Wasn't the Celica overpriced for what it was?  ???...which is why no one bought it, and eventually was discontinued because of that?

2000 year sales were great and then the RSX came to market in 2001 and killed off the GTS.  In the USA, the corolla based Celica was essentially replaced by the Scion TC which was an amazing car for the money.

So essentially the Celica was a very overpriced Corolla.  Although it had a good run going 7 generations.

Now if the new unit actually comes to market it will be awesome, but it will be mid 30s for sure here in base trim.

Although I'd like to see another Corolla based sport coupe priced in the low to mid 20's.

low slung fast back with a lift lift hatch, but with the standard Corolla powertrain; flash but no dash.  Not unlike the last Celica, but priced the same as the Corolla and built in Cambridge.
