MotoGP Cross Plane Crank makes it to production...
« on: February 02, 2009, 06:09:07 pm »
A technology directly from MotoGP is being used on the 2009 Yamaha R1.  I know this isn't a bike website, but the technology and explanation are very cool.  In the end you get an engine that can make peak power/revs of an inline 4 with the flat torque curve of a twin or V4.  Videos explain it:

oh, how i wish i could ride.  :D ;D

by the way, with due respect, i understand this new tech will flatten the curve somewhat, but do you think it will match the actual amount of torque produced by V4 or V twin?

.....i wish i had a ducati monster... those things are so pretty.

The Yamaha makes more peak and torque than last years Ducati 1098R.  Ducati only mustered about 90 RWTQ vs. the Yamahas 105TQ
