Sorry to hear about your HD woes.  What a way to begin the new year. :(

A few months ago, I bought a LaCie 2big triple external dual 500 GB drive setup for backup purposes.  Follow this link:

already have 2 of them :D plus 1 320gig external for everyday use.
yup, got the correct SATA drive.  local supplier was apparently out of 120Gig one that is $50, so got Seagate 250Gig for $80.  ...  and found out that one in my laptop that just died is Seagate as well...  damn..  maybe another replacement will be made next year. :|

anyhoo, installing osx 10.5 as we speak.

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

I stick with Western Digital for hard drives.  Don't know if they really do last longer, but I have never had one die on me yet while Maxtors, Quantums, and Seagates have.  I still have a few 2 GB drives from WD still happily spinning 24/7.

I am now back to UP and OPERATIONAL. :)

i lost some seriously headache inducing amount of personal/financial data, but fresh install always feel like fresh computer. :)

anyway, ..  I never had Seagate fail on me prior to this.  I usually get Samsung or Maxter HDD though..  i think this is like,.. my 3rd seagate ever.

hopefully it will last. :P

Thanks for all the sympathies before, eh!

take care.
