Have fun with your TV that you just wasted your money on  ;D

I don't get it..everyone knows that plasma is not the way to go when it comes to getting a new TV. LCD is the better technology.

Wow....I thought you actually smartened up and left. Do us all a favor and get your facts straight before posting anything on the forum in the future.

Why don't you spend you money on some Yoga classes or something huh?  What are going to do sit in front of you crappy TV while your wifey brings you the beer?

Since you are so smart, maybe you could:

1) show us your tv
2) explain why plasma isn't a great purchace
3) explain why lcd is better than plasma or any other technology

He's just trolling, Quad.  Ignore him.

Does he do anything else?  Besides, I had some free time in between jobs.

It seems there are many things that you don't get. ::) :P

Plasma sets have come a long way from their early days.  No longer do they suffer "burn-in" automatically.  No longer are they expensive both to buy and own.  A decent set can be had for well under $3000.00.  Cheap ones can be had for under $2000.00.

The picture quality can be amazing.  In fact the best picture I have ever seen on a TV was on a higher end Pioneer plasma set.  It looked so real that I might have been staring out of a window.  At the time, it was still over $4000.00 but that was almost 2 years ago.  Prices could have come down on that model considerably.

That being said, LCD is here to stay and certainly is as good if not slightly better at the lower end of the price range.  Newer technologies promise even better options in terms of picture quality, size of the set and even price. :)

That's a very compelling rationale.  Can't go wrong there.

Although LCD is trendier, I still prefer the plasma I think for its somewhat better viewing angles and brilliance.  Works better in our lighter room too, provided you have the anti-glare.

Also plasma seems to cost less in the larger sizes such as this 50 incher.

Future Shop just issued their Boxing Day sales flyer. The 58" Samsung Pn58A550 will be $2499, December 24th starting at 8PM ET on the web and on the 26th in stores. Thats $1K off and $300 better than the Brick has been selling the thing for weeks. If you prefer LCD, they have killer deals on the Samsung 750 Series as well. Another good choice, the 42LG70 will go out for $999. Not bad at all for a 1080p, 120HZ LCD.

The last couple of times I tried using the web store on late Dec 24, it was futile because their servers couldn't keep up and would die in the buying process.  Back in the old days before everyone and their dog had computers & high speed, it used to be no problem.
I'd be interested to hear whether it's useable this yr.

If you click on 58" it is already sold out for $3499 price
I guess a lot of people will be doing the 30 day price matching

This is to prevent exactly that from happening. On the flyer they claim to have 2200 in stock nationwide. All the items with deep discounts are not available on the site right now. Same for the Energy C500 speakers. They show 0 in stock but the flyers says they have 800 pairs available nationwide, 3 pairs min per store. These speakers were $399 each. Now $299. for a pair.

Happy shopping!

Some places don't price match a limited-quantity, door-crasher boxing day sale price for someone who bought before boxing day.
