I have the previous gen 9200 PVR. It works great. TV2 is mainly for remote/multi room viewing, with the UHF remote, or recording. Since most houses already have coax in every room, it is easy to back feed the signal to other rooms.

External Hard drive can hook up via the USB port on the 9242. Wish my 9200 have that feature. Would be much easier to get the recordings onto other recording media.

As for a new TV, should go for a 52" + LCD.

Now have get a new tv, Plamas LCD, DLP  ??? :fall: will be 52 or larger
I think the best pricing will be around Xmas time

I'll be posting my review on the Samsung HL61A750 which is a LED DLP soon.

Before you start, you have to decide what you want from the tv and what time of environment you are watching tv in. Plus, what is your budget?  There are already great deals going on, don't know how much more they can lower the prices plus the best deals at Christmas/Boxing Day are usually for limited stock so you have to line up too many hours ahead of opening to get any.

Main window 6x6 faces east but has a blind on it

Like the brightness of a LCD

With the window LCD will probably work better than Plasma for you.

52 inches can be had between $1500-2000 right now, sometimes down to $1000 if a good sale and not a tier 1 product. Going any bigger is going to cost you though.

How much do you care about quality?

I hear plasma is better for sports then LCD
Will not be watching much sports, but do like action movies, so is plasma better then that

Waiting to read your review on DLP Led.
I like both Samsung and Sony of the TVs I have seen so far

Plasma can refresh the images faster than LCD but that isn't saying that LCD is always slow. Its a case by case scenario. Most if not all Plasmas have highly reflective screens so if you have light in your room, it can become a mirror. I just sold my RPTV that also had a highly reflective screen and let me tell you, it can be annoying. During dark or even mildly dark scenes I could see the reflection of myself watching tv more than what was on the tv. Again its a case by case issue.

Two pieces of advice:
1) Calibrate the tv so it isn't running in torch mode. You don't need to get it ISF calibrated but just by going to a couple of websites (C-Net or AVS) you can get some good starting numbers.
2)  Buy from a place that has a 100% return policy with NO exceptions. I find you have to live with the tv before you really know if you do like it or not.

Bring some action movies with a lot of fast moving scenes with you to demo the tv. Watch what you watch not what they have. A lot of stores will play movies like Cars or demo loop because they are great looking and easy to display so you won't see the flaws in the tvs.

A couple of forums to read for more info:

http://www.avsforum.com  (USA)

Here is the review from C-Net on the LED DLP.

I'll hopefully have my opinion typed up by this weekend. The short version is, this is a amazing tv that is often overlooked. If you don't sit at any weird angles to watch tv or need to hang it on a wall you can't go wrong and at $2000 for 61 inches its a bargin. Be warned....This tv needs to be calibrated to get a great picture from it. If you are seeing it store under the extremely bright lights, it can and will look like :censor:. Plus Costco has a 90 day return policy plus extends all warranties to 2 years. You can't do better than that. If you want to see this tv I can give you a demo at my place under proper viewing conditions, just let me know. I'm in the Beaches area of TO.

Yep...its a 72" ($2700) and uses a lamp not LED. If I was going that big and knew I would be changing bulbs I would just get a projector for less money and much easier to move.

There is also  67" LED version which is the same as the 61" but just bigger. The way it works is Samsung has a dealer exclusive with Costoco and Walmart for the 61" version but any other Sumsung dealer can get you the 67" version. Does that make any sense...nope.
