speeding ticket question
« on: September 11, 2008, 09:07:05 am »
Hey,
Got a speeding ticket yesterday in cambridge, ON. 71 in 50. I was doing over 50 so this post is not to rant about how bad the cop was and how i am screwed and so on.

I have one question. When i was stopped i was shown a radar readout from a handheld radar. The screen was blank except a small red dot at the bottom right of the screen. I could not read 71 anywhere. Since this was my first time being caught i was nervous accepted the ticket. Should i have seen 71 somewhere on that handheld radar. I was going over 50 probably 71 but could have been 55 or even 65. But just had this doubt over the readout

I don't think they have to provide any physical evidence of the speed in Ontario.  I think the evidence is based on the police officer witnessing the speed, he does not need to prove it by showing you the radar gun.

Otherwise the new police airplane would not work for speeding tickets, as well tickets you get when the officer matches your speed in his car would also not work.
