2004 Toyota MR-S Spyder TURBO (dyno sheet pics)
« on: August 12, 2008, 09:51:28 pm »
One of the guys from the Supra club put a turbo kit on his 2004 MR2 Spyder.  The $3800 USD kit is from Power Enterprises.  It only makes 6 lbs of boost.  Because it's a dual ball bearing turbo, spool is really fast...it makes boost at a mere 1300RPM with peak boost at 2700 RPM!!  This would be awesome for Auto-X I think.  I never realized how very light this car is.  A mere ~2200 LBS.  And it's mid-engine and RWD too boot.  And you can import into Canada now!  Final numbers (tuning needs to be smoothed some) is 192 RWHP and 162 RWTQ.  VERY impressive.  That's S2000 power (with more TQ!) and about 500 LBS less weight to move.  This thing would scoot for sure!!  All it needs to look better is an APR Wide-body kit! (pic below)

2004 MR2?  I thought the early 2000's MR was an MR-S.

What a neat idea.

You wouldn't see yourself driving on a daily basis...and a very impressive ~2,000 lb car however puts it into the Elise category.

That car certainly needs some kind of kit 'cause it's a butt ugly copy of a Boxster.  Oh darn...the GTC-300 Universal Wing is not included with the S-GT Widebody Kit.   ;D  They don't sell these kits to guys entering their 40's do they?

Oh...and Autotrader.com lists it as an MR2 Spyder...not that I looked or anything.

That is sufficient power for such of a light car.

I've seen pics of the MR2 based Replica Ferrari on the web, they don't look too 2bad.

I've always liked the MR2, too bad Toyota made the MR-S so ugly/cute.  But now that they can be imported, it's definetly a car to consider, especially for AutoX.

:iagree: Budget Elise is right!

I like that kit.  How much do these go for typically?

According to the RIV document this AM

All  1993-2007 Toyotas EXCEPT   1992 and 1994 Tercel and Paseo  as well as 2000 Lexus Sc400/300 are admissible.
However that Body kit MR2  shown above might fall under the general case of kit cars assembled or not are not admissible.

Soooooooooooooooooooo  any MR2 variant made by Toyota should be admissible

I don't think adding a kit makes it inadmissible -- silly as it may be.

I did an autotrader search seems they range from $20k - $10k, typically in the $15k - $17k range.  Not that cheap you can get an S2000 for that in the US.

i was thinking of the Ferrari one not the TRD one as it happens.   You are probably correct but why upset the bureaucrats.

You could always kick that turbo option UP a notch or 3 too!   ;D
