Pininfarina killed in road accident in Turin, Italy at age 51. He was driving a Vespa Scooter and was hit by car. Grandson of founder of Pininfarina firm.

Of all the great designs on exotic cars from the firm of Pininfarina, seems a terrible irony to die on a Vespa scooter..!!!

That's an interesting tid-bit regarding the last name and company name, I never knew that. I always thought Pininfarina was the last name originally.

Pininfarina, 51, was the third generation to run Pininfarina SpA, founded in 1930 by his grandfather Battista "Pinin" Farina -- who combined his nickname and last name to create the company's name and new family name.

It's Italy! everyone's on scooters... jut came back from there as I have family there.. my relatives told me that many executives in italy (and the rich in general) ride vespas as they are in vogue... another reason is that parking in urban italy is nearly impossible!!
