We live almost at the corner of Clair and Gordon and the prices back in 2000 where $10000 more to buy where we are versus the exact same hour in the North-East part of town. We paid $185000 for our house back in 2000 with almost $15000 in upgrades in the house. We have put another $15000-$17000 into the house since in landscaping, light fixtures, flooring upgrades etc.

Thats a lot of dough into a house. I hope it was worth it. But who cares really if you and your misses enjoy the home.  :)

The housing market is softening here though. You're correct though that $200000 doesn't buy a heck of a lot in Guelph. Townhouses can set you back $230000 or more for a newer one.

It is pricing it self out of the market in some sense. If you are not from Toronto. Plus I just don't want to be mortgage to hilt. 200,000K is comfortable for me.  :)

I'm still opening a store through. :) but now in Kitchener. ;D

Our house in G was rather more than that  $350k   near  College and Edinburgh but as we were trading down from downtown TO it was pretty painless.

We will still want to know about the business Cortina even if we'all have to drive to KW to get there!

Well, we decided to make our house really nice for us so that we would be tempted to stay in this house longer. Even though it is a 1529 sq/ft back split it came with 4 bedrooms! :o So, the upstairs bedrooms were pretty small. We had 2 of the bedrooms made into one nice sized master bedroom and the second bedroom ended up being a foot wider than it would have normally been. We were also able to add a jetted tub and make the upstairs bathroom a 4 piece suite.

By making it nicer we have been able to not move and thus save ourselves thousands in land transfer taxes, moving expenses etc. We are also only 6 years away from having the house paid off as we have "overpaid" our mortgage for years and pay bi-weekly as well. Hopefully we will travel more and have more financial freedom once the house is paid for. Maybe I can buy Michelle that 1964-1966 Mustang Convertable she would like one day. :)

I've been trying to decide whether to stay in Guelph or not. I really can't afford something I like in Guelph on a single income.
I've thought of moving out of Guelph and driving into work. But with the gas prices driving 30 minutes each way to work isn't appealing.

My other option is to move to North Bay. I know houses aren't cheep there either but I could afford more then I could here.

But then you also have to find a new job no?    And does  your sort of job in North Bay pay the same as in Guelph ?

I could asked to be relocated to our North Bay office, which is really the only reason I would pick North Bay

I wish I could get my career settled down. :(

I left a really good job back in 2004 when the company was up for sale. I ended up in a really bad business partnership and this has haunted me ever since.

I haven't been paid for the last 3 months at my present job so I took on a part time job to help pay the bills. I had 2 interviews yesterday and another today. I have some more lined up next week as well.

I really need to make $40 k or more with our lifestyle. Anyone looking for an experienced outside sales rep with 6 years post secondary education and almost 10 years experience in medical sales? :)

sure pick a day, time and place and tell us whether you will be carrying a copy of Pravda and wearing a yellow rose in your buttonhole..... or some other suitable method of recognition.  ;)
