Just got faxed the specs on the 2006 4-cyl RAV from my dealer. He says the info will be posted on the Toyota Canada web site tomorrow -- we'll see.

Two trims (base and "upper grade"), no manual transmission, 17" wheels on both. Stability & traction control is now standard, which is good since it's becoming a must-have feature in this segment. The "upper grade" trim adds things like alloy wheels, 6-disc changer, power seat, sunroof, auto climate control and fog lights.

RAV is going on sale this soon?

I had the impression it would be a Jan/Feb type deal. Hmmm... I'm wondering where price will go relative to the outgoing RAV and Highlander as well. The RAV is no longer what it used to be, and why I liked it.

Any word on if/when the FJ Cruiser is coming to Canada? That's one oddball lookin' SUV, so should prove very interesting.

Not quite this soon -- my dealer has ordered three of them so far for December delivery. Production starts this month. Maybe this is the earliest that dealers had actual specification and equipment details to give out.

Last I heard production start for the FJ Cruiser is January, but haven't seen anything concrete on whether we get it or not. I'd be surprised if we didn't.

Yeah, I've been looking forward to this. The Toyota.com web page says live web reveal, but gives no idea of what time they're talking about.

I’m sure the price creep will be substantial.

Nothing inflamatory about that statement. That should encourage logical and thoughtful discussion.  :(

You don’t want to go to an 0 and 2 count with Snowman.

The red photo is the most flattering and RAV4-like photo of the new one I've seen.

Otherwise, looks rather lumpy and I don't like how it's grown.

I like the size increase, because that was our main concern with the old model.

I really need to see this in person I think, too hard to tell from the photos. I think it looks less high than it was, the roof line seems to taper back quite a bit. Price is a concern too, of course.

No specs on Toyota.ca yet of course.  >:(

I have a scanned-in PDF of the specs for the 4-cylinder models. Shows std. features, colours, dimensions, etc. The quality of the PDF isn't fantastic but it's readable. Send me a PM if you want it.
