Here is another scenario now! Mazda Tribute
« on: October 18, 2005, 07:46:32 am »
Sooo...I think I am a little put off by the Hyundai dealer (s).  I think I have tried my hardest to negotiate but both dealers are not even coming close to my offer.  (Gosh...I didn't think I had it in me to negotiate so much!!)

I have gone to Mazda.  Yup...back to a Tribute.  I lease one now.  The lease is up in Jan.  I am also thinking of financing since the interest rate is 0% right now. If I choose the 6 year finance it is at 1.9% and at that rate the payments are a little easier to swallow.

Here are the numbers I was given:

Tribute GX I4
4 cyclinder
5 speed
2WD
Convenience pkg ($800) *
Accent pkg ($700) *

$495/month for 5 years
$448/month for 6 years.

Now that being said I do have my '02 Tribute to give back.
I am 8000 kms over at 8 cents/kilometer.
My lease isn't up until Jan. which means I have three more payments at $440.

I do like the Tribute.
They have changed some features with this years model.

Any feedback.

 ;)

Jedda......as someone who has owned 2-Ford Escapes (basically a Tribute in disguise), I have to ask, don't you think that $495.00 a month for a 2WD Tribute is a bit much?

My last Escape was a 2003 Limited and my payment, including tax was $569.00 and was loaded with every option (except step bars as they were not available).  Just curious to know if anyone else thinks that is a rather high payment, especially for a 5 or 6 year term!

depends on your downpayment or possibly no downpayment at all (and with 0% why not)

5 yrs @ 0%
6 yrs @ 1.9%

Both are being financed.

I guess the new question is does she feel that the price of the Tribute is worth that much (the actually price)?  Unless the dealer starts giving you money back you can't do better than 0%.

I don't think you should be looking at a hyundai.... anyway!
I wouldn't buy it juss cuz of..... realibility, power, finish, quality and the biggest of them all is Resale value!
Tribute is a nice truck... it's the largest in its class - - my wife drives a 2005 model v6... but i'm paying 2.9% interest!
it's 0% now which is good... i guess becuz of the gas pricing etc..
that doesn't matter much if ur looking for 4 cyl. tho!

anyway good luck with the purchase..
ps: I'd recommend performance mazda in orleans if your in eastern ontario!  :)

Right now....you can have a brand new 2006 Ford Escape XLT 4 X 4 nicely equipped for $489.00 a month, taxes included with NO money down and $0.00 due at signing on a 36 month lease!

I would seriously take a 2nd look at the Mazda deal before I signed the papers...IMO

I have heard nothing but transmissions problem, and other FORD related quality issues, with the Mazda Tribute……Stay away. This is the weakest link in the Mazda family and hopefully they will dump it soon.
