hey everybody,

I looking at buying a used 1996 Jetta that has 178,000 kms.  Body is in great shape no accidents and one owner. The seller wants $3500 for it.  Is that to much?  What the red book price?

Rawski Welcome to the Forum. If the car will pass safety and the e-test if you have it in your area then yes thats not a bad price. Have a Good Qualified Mechanic inspect this car as the little bit of cost for this can pay you back many times over. I think the price is fair for the car especially if all of the service records come with it.

Here's the important question, gas or diesel? If it's gas it about right, if it's a diesel, that's a low price. Either way have it looked it over well, preferably by a shop specializing in them.
