Selling Manitoba Car in Ontario
« on: February 27, 2005, 08:43:37 am »
We just moved near Ottawa from Winnipeg in Dec. 2004.  Brought both cars, but want to sell one now. I understand that when selling cars here you need to have a used vehicle information package, but anything I have read says it is for Ontario Vehicles.  Can I sell my car "AS IS" without this?  I have not registered it here and was hoping to sell it before my Manitoba registration ran out.  Does it have to be registered here?  I am asking here because I would rather not open up a can of worms at the Motor Vehicle office until I have to.  Insurance is very expensive and to get it for a month - putting the whole amount out at the moment!! - is tough for us.  Any advice?  Any one guessing what the red or black book might be on a 1997 Ford Escort wagon with 156000 km?

Cousiles Welcome to the Forum. I would call the MTO early in the morning as its the best time to get an answer to the legal matters on this. Check out the Auto Trader for Cars in your area to get a idea of what yours is worth here.
